P&O Ferries-The Future

P&O Ferries is gearing up for the maiden voyage of the first of its €180 million new ships for the Dover - Calais route.  Dubbed the Spirit of Britain, which will be by far the largest ferry ever ever to sail the Dover Strait, is scheduled to set sail on 21 January, 2011.
In September of 2011,  the Spirit of France, twin sister to the Spirit of Britain, is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage as well.   I am sure that you will find lots of special promotional deals this fall leading up to this event.  P&O Ferries is keeping the public up to speed with its largest and newest ships at their website.
In an attempt to create excitement for the expensive and expansive additions to its already massive fleet, the P&O Ferries has launched a website dedicated to giving as much information as possible to the public about its new arrivals.  Complete with building journal, pictures, and even a virtual tour of the new ships, this website has everything you could possibly want to know.  Check out these new P&O Ferries already atwww.poferries.com/newships and get the feel like you are on board.
Another enticing promotion that P&O has launched it the SuperCalaisFerryTastic game.  Offering such prizes as: Disneyland Paris day passes for four and free ferry trip, a seven night European mobile home vacation package with free ferry passes, a Sunpark family holiday package in Belgium, Holland or Germany with free ferry pass, and many more shopping, travel and ferry prizes, including a "Free P&O Ferries Travel for a Decade," are available to all who choose to play.
In order to draw even more interest, the game itself is, of course, in a virtual P&O Ferries ship on P&O Ferries website.  You simply guide your blue man to any spot of your choice in one of the five onboard areas which each contain a different prize and click on the spot.  Once you've typed in your name and email address, you are entered.  This promo ends on January 21st, the day of the maiden voyage of the Spirit of Britain.  P&O Ferries will contact the winners once the drawing has been done so keep an eye on your email inbox.
The future looks bright for P&O Ferries as they look forward to many more passengers being able to travel on their largest ever ferries to travel the Dover Strait.

P&O Ferries Tv Advert from 1988

Retro ads are fun to watch but this ad for P&O Ferries (starts at 1:33 in this video) is so good it looks like it could have been filmed today. What I really like about this video from P&O Ferries is that it makes me want to go to all those beautiful and quaint places. It makes me feel relaxed and fresh. I want to drive down to the port in Dover and drive on to the P&O Ferries there and cross to Calais so I can just drive around and enjoy the day in France, tasting lots of French goodies in little out-of-the way cafes. Then I want to head over to Zeebrugge and check out some Belgium goodies and see the beauty along the way

Eventually, I may meet someone new that makes me want to hang around for a few days and get to know them better. This could be the beginning of a brand new friendship. I may then drive onto the P&O Ferries towards Rotterdam to check out what the Netherlands has to offer. Always interesting and historical things to see and do along the way. When I have finished traversing the various nooks and crannies of The Netherlands, Belgium and France, I will board another one of the P&O Ferries back toward the UK, or, who knows, maybe on to Spain or Ireland for more exotic foods, people and histories.

P&O Ferries gives me the flexibility to take my vehicle and check out what's out there. Those of us who have lived in the United States of America all our lives take for granted the ability to hop in your car and go where you want to go, even driving for days at a time, thousands of miles. I wonder if you would begin to feel claustrophobic living on an island with so many people and so few miles to travel before hitting water. On the other hand, there is all the romance of travelling through such historic places. P&O Ferries gives a great line at the end of this 1988 commercial: "Why sail the English Channel when you can cruise it?" I do wish that I lived in the UK and could just take a weekend to use P&O Ferries and check out all these great destinations.

P&O Ferries - You Deserve a Holiday

"You deserve a Holiday" is a favorite advertising motto for P&O Ferries. That is true is it not? After just having finished reading the book, "Eat, Pray, Love" I am a true believer that the Italians have the best answer to that question: Of course I do! But when was the last time you took a holiday? We seem to treat ourselves with lots of little meaningless things but don't give ourselves that one thing that would make the biggest difference: time off to relax and just do nothing but enjoy life.

I say this as a citizen of the United States of America, where, for some reason, we seem to have forgotten that we need time off to regroup and regenerate our bodies, minds and souls. My in-laws live in Germany, a country that practically shuts down for weeks at a time several times a year so that families can take time off together. But here, in the USA, I have met many people that do not take vacations with their spouse or their children. How can we expect families to bond if we don't even want to spend our free time together.

So here we have the encouragement to take a holiday and the P&O Ferries have something for the whole family to enjoy. You don't have to ship your kids off to camp to have fun, take them with you on your P&O Ferries mini vacation. Travel to Calais and give them a taste of France, or off to Dublin for some old-fashioned Irish beauty. Relax, unwind, play together and make some lifelong memories for you and your family. You don't have a family? That's OK. Treat yourself to some special time away and see where life takes you. Just take some time to experience something and someplace new.

P&O Ferries hit the mark on this ad, in my estimation, by pointing out that you need a holiday when life is getting you down. So props to you, P&O Ferries! I hope that this was a successful ad campaign, more than just in the profits for P&O Ferries, but also in the lives of Brits who needed to be reminded to take some time away from the pressures of life and treat yourself to a holiday, just because you've earned it. No one else is going to know when you need a break. You need to pay attention to your needs and check out what P&O Ferries has to offer you.

P&O Ferries Dover Calais Crossing

One way to treat yourself is to take a trip on one of the many P&O Ferries. The P&O Ferries boast one of the largest fleet of ships crossing over the English Channel, the North Sea and even the Irish Sea (though they use other additional names for some of these other routes such as P&O Irish Ferries) which allows them to have a wide range of services and schedules for the many travelers who want to get from the United Kingdom to Ireland, France, Belgium or The Netherlands. P&O Ferries is striving to be a forward thinking company that strives to give their customers the best and most memorable experience possible, whether it is a day trip, a weekend trip, a business trip, mini cruise or a vacation.

As you watch this and other videos available, you will see the great variety of activities and accommodations that P&O Ferries has to offer their travelers. From children's playgrounds to bars, pools and hot tubs to restaurants, sunning on the deck to trivia games, and fitness centers to posh lounges with televisions and movies, you will find this trip anything but tiresome or tedious. You will also notice that there is a nice range of sleeping quarters ranging from simple sleeping berths to posh, hotel style bedroom suites to make your mini cruise memorable.

I have noticed that there are some nay-sayers, as there always is, who want to rant about what a horrible experience they had. As a whole, though, there seems to be an overwhelming consensus that the P&O Ferries are offering an excellent alternative to the crowded airline transportation available for crossing over to the Continent from the UK. Add to the posh, relaxed atmosphere the flexibility of having your own transportation upon arrival at your destination and the obvious choice for your next trip across the English Channel would definitely be one of the many P&O Ferries that are available.

So whether you want to travel to Calais, France; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Zeebrugge, Belgium; Dublin, Ireland; or Larne, Ireland the British company P&O Ferries is how you should travel. Their website is easy to navigate and has a wealth of information, not just about their routes and schedules, but also about the many places to visit and the various ways to enjoy your time away from the rigors of your everyday, hectic life. Now is the time for you to treat yourself to some much needed R&R on the P&O Ferries.
